Why does my ps3 lag online?

Well my ps3 lags. it will usually lag when i'm playing online and my brothers on the computer and sisters on her phone/ipod. So i know that probably it but i also lag when its just me online. And i know it isnt that i have a bad connection because before i used to play online wile everyone else was on the internet to. really would appreciate the help.
