Please someone help with this problem? :(?

Me and this guy have been together for almost 2 1/2 years, I broke up with him in January because I was under alot pressure to graduate high school and stress from family, to make things more stressful my friend passed away in march and my uncle went to jail, for 4 months he tried to get back with me but i said no as i didnt know what to feel I was sad, because my friend passed away and i was too stressed, now that I graduated high school and started to recover from my friends death, I tried talking to him about how much i miss him and wanted to get back together but he said found a girlfriend which i was shocked but not too much i asked how long they been dating and he said 2 days but i told him i still loved him and he said he loved me back but he couldnt hurt this girl feelings and i was hurt that he chose someone who might like him over someone that loves and cares for him, he said he was wiling to take this risk cuz he said he know he loves me but dosent know if i love him.... I begged him to give us a chance but he said his decision was final he said if things dont work out with this girl that he will come back to me, i know its wrong to wait for someone and to be a rebound but im so confused i dont know what to do.......
