What is the best form of birth control?

My husband and I are pregnant now and plan to be done having children....We think. We are not sure so we don't want to do anything permanent. I have a good 24 years old child bearing years left, then by this point we would be wiling to do something more permanent but between that point I need to be on something. I don't want to be taking the pill for that long because I understand it could cause serious health issues. Is there anything available that anyone knows of that may work for me for such a long period of time? I don't mind doing the research but I don't even know where to start really.
