actually having a split government isn't all that great. back when our country was still young and two people would run for president against each other, the looser of the run would become the vice president so you would always have one federalist and one anti-federalist person in the two top spots. the government realized it wasn't as good to do this because it just caused bickering between the 2. it's better to have all of one or another
